The basics
All need to know about the visa that will take you to the UK
Whether you’ll be working as a nurse, carer or in another role, you will need a Skilled Worker Visa.
To get your visa, you will need a sponsor, your employer.
Your visa lasts for up to 5 years.
You must work full time for your sponsor.
Alongside you full time job you can study and volunteer.
You may be able to work additional hours for another employer in the same sector.
You can leave the UK to go on holiday or visit family and friends back home.
You can bring your dependants to the UK.
Eligibility
To apply for a Skilled Worker Visa you must:
have a valid passport.
have never been refused entry to the UK
have a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)
be able to show you do not have a criminal record
have experience and qualifications for your job in the UK
have taken a UKVI approved English test
be able to travel to the UK within 3 months of getting your visa
Making your application
To apply for your visa, you must have:
Your current passport with at least 2 blank pages.
A recent colour photo.
Results of your approved English test.
Police check.
The visa fee.

Bank statement
Within ten days of arriving in the UK, you will collect your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP).
